Capacity and taps
Allow roughly 1 litre of cooling capacity per 2–3 people per shift. Two taps reduce queues. Stainless steel tanks are easier to clean and do not hold odours like plastic.

Feed the cooler from a purifier or commercial RO plant, not directly from an overhead tank. Test the water at the cooler tap, because that is what people actually drink.
Monthly hygiene routine
Switch off, drain fully, scrub the tank with a food-grade cleaner, rinse thoroughly and refill. Wipe the taps daily: they are touched by everyone.

How often should a school test its drinking water?
At least every three months, and after any tank cleaning or plumbing work.
