Commercial RO plants (100–150 LPH) for offices, schools and restaurants
By Sadguru Research & Analysis Laboratory · 23 October 2026
When a building needs a few hundred litres of drinking water a day, domestic purifiers cannot keep up. A 100–150 litres-per-hour (LPH) commercial RO plant with a storage tank is the usual answer.

Sizing the plant
Estimate 2–3 litres of drinking water per person per day (more for canteens that cook with it). A 100 LPH plant running 8 hours gives about 800 litres, enough for roughly 250–300 people.

For offices, small restaurants, coaching centres and clinics that need a few hundred litres a day.
Lab note: A commercial RO plant does not give you a licence to sell packaged water; that needs a BIS licence under IS 14543.

Most contamination we find in institutional water happens after purification: in the storage tank, the dispensing taps and the bottles people refill. Clean the tank every month, and add UV on the outlet if water sits for long.
Testing for institutions
Test the purified water after installation and then quarterly: bacteria (coliform, E. coli), TDS, pH and hardness at minimum. Schools, hospitals and food businesses are often asked to show these reports in inspections.
Common questions
Can I sell bottled water from a commercial RO plant?
No. Packaged drinking water needs a BIS licence under IS 14543, an FSSAI licence and a full in-house lab.
How much water does a commercial RO waste?
Typically 40–60% of the input. Reuse the reject water for flushing, mopping or gardening.
Test before you spend
A laboratory report tells you exactly what your water or food needs, so you buy the right equipment once. We test water to IS 10500 and food to FSSAI standards, with sample pickup across Kolkata.
